Exhausts
Exhausts - Suppliers and fitters of car exhaust systems in the UK
Merityre Specialists supply and fit top brands of exhausts for all makes and models of cars, from Minis to Rolls Royces. We keep the fast moving exhaust parts in stock ready for immediate fitment, but for more unusual vehicles we are able to obtain the exhaust needed usually within the hour. Even if you have a classic car, or an unusual American model, as true exhaust specialists we would aim to get this for you within 24 hours.
We supply all the leading UK brands of standard exhaust systems and performance exhaust systems, including Timax and Energy. All exhaust parts are aluminised steel, for longer life, and come with a two-year warranty against any manufacturing defect.
Our staff are trained and experienced in the fitting of exhaust systems.
We can also supply and fit a comprehensive range of Catalytic Converters. 'Cats', as they are called in the trade, are fitted to all new cars by law. Their purpose is to clean the emissions from the car engine, to remove harmful particles and carbon monoxide gas, so that the final gas from the exhaust pipe is predominantly carbon dioxide and water vapour. Emissions from vehicles are now a major part of the MOT test, and it is important that your engine and exhaust system is in good order, to prevent premature damage to the catalytic converter.

Handy Exhaust Tips
- Short journeys are worst for an exhaust, as it doesn't heat up sufficiently to burn off water vapour from the engine - leading to faster corrosion.
- Although most corrosion comes from the inside of an exhaust, during the winter, wash underneath the car to stop salt accumulating on the outside.
- If you have a catalytic converter, this should be checked when the vehicle is serviced. Most 'cats' will need replacing at least once during a car's life
Planning a long journey?
Your exhaust is very good at telling you when something is wrong! It may rattle when the clips are loose, gush out black smoke when the catalytic converter doesn't work or fall off completely if it has rusted through.
Whatever the state of your exhaust you should visually check it before each journey to ensure you are not putting yourself and other motorists in danger.
