The pressure monitoring system called TPMS by technicians allows the permanent monitoring of the pressure of your tyres. A radio transmission is made between each electronic wheel sensor-valve and the dashboard, which will inform you should you have a slow or fast puncture or a blow-out.
The system is a major advance in terms of safety since it alerts you in real time of a pressure failure in the wheels of your vehicle.
Under-inflation is a frequent cause of excess fuel consumption. By alerting you, TPMS allows you to react and adjust your pressure.
Depending on the vehicle, some symbols are displayed on the dashboard, either when starting the vehicle or when the information is communicated. Some vehicles are fitted with an ‘indirect’ TPMS system and are therefore not equipped with sensor valves.

Merityre specialists take care of the inspection and maintenance of your TPMS system. When an inspection is carried out on your tyres, they will offer to carry out a TPMS system inspection and if necessary to change the parts required in order to maintain its capability for safe operation.
During any inspection of a tyre, it is important to inspect the condition of the sensor-valve and of the electronic system. It may be necessary to change certain components to ensure satisfactory operation and your safety.
The pressure monitoring system or TPMS will be obligatory on new vehicles approved from
1st November 2012 throughout Europe.
If your vehicle is not fitted with a TPMS we can offer you the AirAware kit
which will give you the same functionality as a system fitted by the manufacturer.
