How much is an MOT?

14th June 2021

MOT prices can vary based on a variety of factors such as the type of vehicle and the test centre you choose to attend. For a car, however, test centres are limited to how much they can charge.

Here at Merityre Specialists, we offer MOTs from £39.95 on class 4 vehicles across our DVSA approved MOT Test branches. This is well below the Government’s maximum threshold of £54.85!

MOT costs: how are they calculated?

MOT prices are regulated by the government. Below is a table indicating the maximum fee you will have to pay for your vehicle’s MOT. It is worth noting that a lot of test centres, including Merityre, will offer lower prices than these:

If your vehicle fails its first MOT, we offer repair services and a FREE partial retest when the failed area has been fixed. However, it’s important to note that with a failed MOT often comes the additional MOT repair charges you’ll likely need to pay for – which can then increase the overall amount you’ll fork out.
