What does a car service include?

A car service can include multiple components, system checks and adjustments of your vehicle to ensure it’s in line with vehicle manufacturer specifications. Some of the most common areas of inspection during a car service include:

  • Checking tyres, lights, brakes and steering alignment
  • Suspension checks
  • Testing the vehicle’s battery condition
  • Engine checks, oil change and filter replacement
  • Checking hydraulic fluid and coolant levels
  • Testing cooling system

Servicing at Merityre Specialists

Here at Merityre Specialists, we offer three different types of car servicing.

  • Bronze Service – Basic type of service. This is advised every 12 months, or every 12,000 miles – whichever is sooner.
  • Silver Service – Intermediate type of service. This is advised every 12 months or every 12,000 miles.
  • Gold Service – Full type of service. This is advised every 12 months or every 12,000 miles.

What is included in a car service?

Interior/Exterior Checks
Check bodywork condition
Check condition of windscreen and mirrors
Check operation of interior and exterior lights
Check dash warning lights and note any illuminated
Check operation and condition of all wipers and washers and top up screen wash if required
Check horn operation
Check seatbelts
Check air conditioning operation
Lubricate bonnet catch and door hinges
Engine Bay
Check PAS system, including pipes and gaiters
Check battery security and condition
Check auxiliary belts
Check anti-freeze level and strength
Check brake fluid level and report
Check clutch fluid level
Check PAS fluid level
Check cooling system including radiator and pipes, top up coolant if required
Replace air filter (if required at extra cost)    
Replace coolant (if recommended by manufacturer, extra charge)    
Replace fuel filter (if required at extra cost)    
Replace pollen filter (if required at extra cost)    
Replace spark plugs (if required at extra cost)    
On Ramp
Check steering and suspension components
Inspect exhaust system and mountings
Check wheels and tyres including spare and all pressures
Change oil and filter
Visual check on brake pads and discs
Wheels off full front and rear brake check including shoes, cylinders and drums  
Check brake system including pipes and calipers  
Check handbrake, lubricate and adjust if required    
Check clutch and adjust if required    
Check CV gaiters
Check driveshaft/propshaft
Check gearbox, differential and transfer box levels    
Check fuel lines
Check wheel bearings
On Ground
Torque wheel nuts
Road test vehicle
Reset service light
Stamp service book
Check cambelt due date and report
