Most vehicles are equipped with an air conditioning system as standard. Air conditioning systems are beneficial to drivers as they can cool your vehicle on hot days and help to de-mist your windscreen when it’s cold.
Your air conditioning system is not usually checked as part of a routine car service, so it is important that you make an appointment to have yours inspected and recharged.
You need to have your air conditioning serviced because over time, the pressure of the gas in your air conditioning will drop which causes the effectiveness of your air conditioning to also drop.
When this happens your air conditioning system will be working harder to keep cool and this makes your engine work harder which consumes more fuel.
As the gas in your air conditioning system permeates at a rate of 10% per year, you should have your air conditioning recharged every two years.
On top of this, if you notice any other problems such as warm air being emitted instead of cold or a reduced air flow, you should have your air conditioning checked for free at your local Merityre Specialists*.
